„You can rely on DFS as an employer in every situation, the jobs are future-proof and the opportunities are quite varied.“

Career opportunities in all directions
The technology we use is the backbone of our air traffic management operations. The equipment and systems we manage ensure that aircraft take off and land safely, while also being monitored and guided while they are in the air. Nothing can be left to chance here, so high-availability is the watchword for every technical component. This ensures safety in the sky and guarantees you both exciting days and varied duties, and last but not least, a secure job.
With your engineering background, for example in communications engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, physics or another natural science, you have the right qualifications for this vital duty.
Whether air traffic control technology in control centres and towers, data and telecommunications systems or radio, radar and navigation facilities: We ensure 100% availability of the systems as a complete solution, from project planning to operation, from property management to construction, lifecycle services and the centralised operation of DFS-wide administrative IT. What is the best fit for you?
We look after all technical air navigation facilities at DFS. As such, we are primarily responsible for the maintenance of commissioning of communication, navigation and surveillance facilities, as well as ATC systems.
We also rectify all manner of issues and faults, while supporting product management with analyses and documentation.
Our numerous system and infrastructure projects in surveillance and navigation are also exciting. This is where your input is needed for planning and implementation.
It will come as no surprise to you that our duties also include the entire scope of technical facility management. But it might pique your professional interest.
This area is also home to the calibration and repair services for all measuring equipment used throughout DFS.
Your role could also involve developing, commissioning and maintaining our IT business support systems (BSS) and applications for our air traffic services. Or you can take care of system operation and product management for the office communication working positions.
The objective with all of this work is to ensure smooth processes. You will play your role as part of a large team.
Since all areas are important, they each also have their own product management. Navigation services are responsible for terrestrial and satellite-based navigation services. In this role, we assume responsibility for product management of the navigation facilities.
In the triad of communicate, navigate & locate, surveillance services are responsible for the ongoing development of surveillance systems and services. This applies to the air situation both in en-route control and in the vicinity of airports, as well as the ground situation at the designated international airports. Of course, we also check that our solutions are compatible with international requirements.
As a product management specialist in fields such as communications engineering, electrical engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, industrial engineering or physics, you can support "your system" throughout its entire life cycle.
To ensure that employees receive effective training and are properly prepared for their future duties, we also manage the operation and support of our training simulators. We look forward to hearing your ideas.
There is a strong team in place behind our innovative, and reliable technology. We are proud of our sense of solidarity and team spirit. Everyone knows everyone. This makes our work very personal. We can always rely on one another and provide mutual support. Our special feeling of togetherness definitely helps us in our work.
Since our technology is in use throughout Germany, you will find us everywhere. All areas of responsibility are present at our Headquarters in Langen. The system management team manages the maintenance process at the control centre sites in Bremen, Munich and Karlsruhe, as well as the two maintenance hubs in Düsseldorf and Berlin. Our 15 tower sites are served by the respective maintenance hub.
We will be modernising the radar facilities at over 30 sites nationwide – that is quite a number. Among other things, new data communication technology is set to be installed here.
This project revolves around the design, development and operation of multiple cloud environments, as well as a continuously expanding portfolio of cloud-based services. With this step, we are laying the foundations for future services in and around the air situation, weather, flight plans and more in the context of the DFS IT landscape.
As part of this project, we are connecting all navigation, radar and radio facilities to the IP network. At the same time, we are switching over radio communication between controllers and pilots to voice-over-IP (VoIP) for modern and efficient communication.
