Air traffic controller training
Work hand in hand with pilots and guide thousands of passengers safely to their destinations every day.
Technical apprenticeship: IT specialist for system integration (Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration)
Air navigation services are digital. You will ensure that all IT systems are running correctly and make an important contribution to safety in the skies.
Commercial apprenticeship: office management specialist (Kaufmann/-frau für Büromanagement)
Immerse yourself in the world of office organisation and support the important work of air navigation services – to ensure safe flights in Germany.

Apprenticeships for operational specialists
Alongside air traffic controllers, there are also other specialists working at DFS to ensure safe air traffic. An school leaving certificate from some form of upper secondary school equivalent to the German Abitur/Fachabitur or a completed vocational qualification is normally required to qualify for these training programmes.
Flight data specialists
Take care of flight plans and ensure smooth air traffic alongside other air traffic control centres.
Flight Information Service (FIS) specialist
Make an important contribution to airspace safety with information for VFR pilots.
AIS officer
Support pilots in the three areas of:
aeronautical information service, NOTAM handling, and supervision of landing sites.
Supervision of landing sites
Aerodrome coordinator
Become a member of the tower crew and ensure smooth operations at the airport, for example by optimising aircraft movements.

The air traffic controller training programme starts several times a year. This means you can apply to us at any time. Ideally, you should apply 1 year before you want to start with the training. In most cases, if you are available earlier, you can start earlier.
