Offers that take you further

Broad portfolio of training courses

We offer you over 40 different in-house training courses, supporting your development whatever your direction.

These include methodological and technical training courses, such as on hybrid work, workshop facilitation, SCRUM or design thinking. We also support you in strengthening your personality with training courses such as presence & impact, resilience, team skills and much more.

Regular employee appraisals

Mutual feedback is important, so regular appraisal interviews between you and your manager form the basis of our career development.

Your potential and future prospects are discussed in an open dialogue. This opens up a wide range of opportunities for your development, which are catered for through our extensive internal and external portfolio of further training and qualification options.

Targeted development in talent management

When it comes to filling management or key positions, we invest a great deal of time.

Within the scope of talent reviews, we take a close look at those individuals that are eligible for a step of this kind. This enables us to prepare our talented staff for new roles and functions early on.

Paid leave as a training/education time budget

We consider it important for our staff to continue developing their skills and knowledge.

We therefore support your further development in part-time degree programmes or qualifications that are certified by the chamber of industry & commerce (IHK) by granting you 10 days of paid leave per year. Working together with universities and colleges is important to us. For example, we cooperate with the Worms University of Applied Sciences and sponsor the part-time MBA.

Development from the outset with onboarding

We will accompany you on your journey at DFS right from the start. One way in which we support you is with our Newcomers Day.

This event will make it easier for you to find your feet at the company. Because everything is designed to help you get to know DFS and the people that work here. Interesting presentations bring you closer to our company – from strategy and values to important departments. In addition, there is always an opportunity for you to ask questions and engage in dialogue. This represents the ideal basis for making acquaintances across departments/sites, as well as establishing initial contacts.

Insights – a programme to discover other areas of DFS

What do the other divisions at DFS or the DFS subsidiaries do? We consider it important to share knowledge and insights within DFS and throughout the DFS Group.

Our Insight events offer you an opportunity to gain new impressions and familiarise yourself with the work of other areas/departments and DFS subsidiaries.

Broad-based support for managers

As one of our almost 500 managers, you are the essential link between the Executive Board and our staff, making you an essential factor in the success of DFS. This is why we take a clear focus on your individual development. Whether you are an experienced or new manager, whether you are employed in a leadership or operational capacity, we have a broad range of support for you.

Programme for new managers

We make your entry as a new manager easier with our Leadership Campus. The aim is to ensure that you are ideally prepared for your management role and to provide you with basic management skills. Another focus is on cross-site networking with other managers.

A consultation, in which your individual development path is set out, represents the core of the Leadership Campus. This is followed by 5 modules covering fundamental management issues, such as corporate and leadership culture, self-management, leadership management and change management.

Mentoring programme

We pair up new managers with experienced ones, since both sides can benefit from such arrangements. As a new manager, this means that you will have a longstanding manager at your side. This allows networks, experience and knowledge to be shared.

Development programme for managers

Time for Leadership is our development programme for all managers. In this programme, we regularly offer you the opportunity to address current challenges relating to leadership and working relationships so that you can learn to master these in the best possible way. Focus topics include: process-orientated leadership, leadership during unstable times, cross-generational leadership and growth mindset.

Networks and exchanging experiences

As a manager, your programme is rounded off by work shadowing at DFS sites, in various interface areas or even at one of our subsidiaries. In addition to this, we offer you regular discussion formats at which you can discuss current management topics and experiences with other managers across divisions and hierarchies.
