Apply by 31 January 2025 for the start of your studies in October 2025. You are welcome to apply to us all year round, however. The programme starts in March and October of each year.

Your studies in Worms

The English-language air traffic management degree programme at Worms University of Applied Sciences combines business administration, marketing, airport management and aviation analytics. The city of Worms is a great place to study thanks to the diverse range of things it has to offer. During your two practical phases at our Campus in Langen, you will familiarise yourself with the work in the specialist areas of DFS, such as flight route planning or capacity management. This will prepare you perfectly for your job as an air traffic controller.

Training to become an air traffic controller:

After 18 months at university, your air traffic controller training will start. The first classroom-based part and the simulator training take place at our Air Navigation Services Academy in Langen. You will then go to one of 17 locations in Germany for your on-the-job training in your future area of work, i.e. in a control centre or tower. You will then be working with live air traffic and will acquire all the necessary air traffic controller licences.

The aim of the dual course of studies is for you to work in your dream job as an air traffic controller – with all the advantages and development opportunities that offers. In the course of their careers, some of our air traffic controllers become supervisors, coaches for student air traffic controllers or work in other DFS divisions, such as flight route planning. These paths are open to all air traffic controllers, but additional third-level experience can be an advantage. If you fail one of the two options, you can continue with the other. In a sense, you have a safety net.

What we are looking for

The general requirements for air traffic controller training apply such as Abitur (or equivalent), very good English, maximum age of 24 years, and very good hearing and eyesight. In addition:

Abitur with a mark/grade better than 2.0

Ready to take off?

Are you ready for your career to take off? The good thing is that when you apply, you do not have to decide whether you would prefer to do the training programme or the dual course of studies to become an air traffic controller. This is because the basic selection is identical for both routes. If you are accepted for training as an air traffic controller with us, you can still make your decision later. Only afterwards does the selection for the dual course of studies begin.
