Sustainability
We are aware of our responsibility for the world we live in. We therefore ensure that air traffic is not only safe and punctual, but also as environmentally friendly as possible.
We support maximum fuel savings by optimising flight routes and flight guidance. In addition to these responsibilities, we also work continuously on ourselves. Indeed, we are always looking for new ways to make our entire company even more resource efficient.
Climate protection
Every tonne of carbon dioxide saved protects the climate. DFS therefore plays a vital role when planning flight routes and controlling air traffic. We ensure efficient routing, optimised flight profiles, fuel-saving approaches and short taxiing times – for the lowest possible fuel consumption.
Successes already achieved
Local environmental protection
We also take care of the environment at our sites and contribute to more climate-friendly commuting by our staff with a variety of measures, such as tax-incentivised JobRad bicycle leasing and the subsidised JobTicket for public transport.
We also focus on waste avoidance and recycling, promote biodiversity and make use of both efficient computer technology and climate-friendly energy generation. We purchase almost all our electricity as green electricity. This has enabled us to cut our CO2 footprint roughly in half.
Environmental management
Fewer CO2 emissions, lower resource consumption, greater biodiversity: DFS has set its sights high when it comes to environmental and climate protection. In keeping with this, we have been EMAS certified for our environmental management since 2023. This makes us a pioneer among comparable air navigation service providers in Europe. With our environmental management system, we ensure that we achieve our goals and keep reducing our ecological footprint.
