FAQs on apprenticeships/
traineeships at DFS

Whether you would like to train to become an air traffic controller, IT specialist, office management specialist or operational specialist, you are making the right decision by choosing DFS. Our training will provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities that will stand you in good stead in your future career – in a friendly environment that is characterised by solidarity and recognition.

Here, you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our apprenticeships in the administrative area. If you have any questions regarding air traffic controller training or dual courses of studies, you can find the answers in our FAQs on air traffic controller training and FAQs on dual courses of studies.

As part of the selection process for our office management specialist training (Kauffrau/Kauffmann für Büromanagement) or IT specialist for system integration training (Fachinformatiker Systemintegration), you will first complete an online test. We will then ask you to introduce yourself in a telephone interview and an onsite selection process. You can find more information on the selection process for training to become an air traffic controller air traffic controller.

You can find the current application deadlines on the respective pages of our training programmes. In principle, however, you can make a note of 1 June. From this date onwards, you will have the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship/traineeship place or dual course of studies with us. You can apply to train to become an air traffic controller at any time.

Your training will start in September, i.e. at the beginning of the new school year and the end of the summer holidays in Hesse.

Our aim is always to offer you a permanent position once training is completed. We support all our trainees in applying internally at our company and finding their ideal position.

Of course. You are still welcome to apply for a different training programme with us. We welcome anyone who is interested in one of our apprenticeships/traineeships or dual courses of studies. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to reapply for the air traffic controller training or the air traffic management dual course of studies.

Depending on the programme, teaching takes place on a part-time basis or as a block model.

For office management specialists, the part-time model applies, with two days a week at school and three days at the company.

Our IT specialists for system integration have block lessons. This means that they alternate between several weeks of pure lessons followed by several weeks of practical training at the company.

Become part of our close-knit team:

The air traffic controller training programme starts several times a year. This means you can apply to us at any time. Ideally, you should apply 1 year before you want to start with the training. In most cases, if you are available earlier, you can start earlier.
