Teaching material for your school lessons
When it comes to the question of what to do after school, school leavers often have only one answer: "I'm going to university, naturally!" But there are alternatives to university which are equally promising.
With this in mind, DFS has set itself the goal of providing schools with an exciting set of teaching materials in German on a topic that is not always on young people's radar. The material supports pupils in acquiring a broader perspective in their education.
Classroom material: Fliegen (flying)
Together with the publisher Klett MINT GmbH, we have developed a comprehensive collection of materials in German on the subject of flying. They are suitable for the later years of upper secondary school and allow teachers to structure their lessons in an exciting, practical and varied way. Here, you can download the material for free, including supplementary material and audio files (available in German only; 214 MB, ZIP).
Learning units
Whether science, technology or computer science, we offer you high-quality educational material to structure your lessons in a clear and vivid way. They cover exciting subjects from the world of aviation, such as drones, bionics, weather or intercultural communication. Originally, they were designed for pupils in German schools in the last five years of upper secondary school.
DFS ensures that all flights in German airspace reach their destinations safely. Air traffic controllers, innovative technology and a sophisticated safety management system ensure the highest possible level of safety.
Climate neutrality is the central goal of aviation. This goal is to be achieved with technical innovations and alternative propulsion systems. How realistic is this and what has already been achieved?
After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic with a record low in 2020, air traffic volumes recovered significantly in 2022, much faster than predicted. DFS continues to look for new recruits in many professional groups.
The DFS training programme for air traffic controllers can now be combined with a degree in business administration:
Air Traffic Management – dual (B.Sc.) at Worms University of Applied Sciences.
Empowering women to apply. This teaching unit focuses on equal opportunities and equal rights, at DFS and in our society.
Talented people are on our radar. For a career as an air traffic controller and many other attractive professions. DFS also trains air navigation services engineers, computer scientists, air traffic managers and corporate staff. In a training programme, a dual course of studies or an apprenticeship.
Known as unmanned aircraft systems in the industry, they are considered by many as the future of aviation. Drones represent a revolution for civil aviation. We are right in the middle of this revolution.
Goods from all over the world are landing on our doorsteps at an ever faster rate. Logistics makes this possible. We track the transport routes.
How easy is it to combine being a father, mother or child and everyday office life from 8:00 to 16:00? Not everyone fits into this way of life. Flexibility at work is needed to balance the pressures of family and career.
Learning together, living together, working together. How does this work in our globalised world? And what can we improve?
Technology dictates our everyday lives. How it does that is up to us. The subject of Human Factors examines the interaction between humans and machines.
Nature can be our role model. When we solve technical problems by copying how plants and animals do it, we are practising bionics. We take a closer look.
Everyone has an opinion about the weather. But we also know something about it. Thanks to comprehensible explanations of what meteorology involves.
"You cannot not communicate," the scientist Paul Watzlawick once said. Air traffic controllers and pilots teach us how to communicate precisely.
From explorers heading off without even a chart to smartphone users today; from navigating by the sun, moon and stars to using satellite receivers and the future of navigation.
School talks
Benefit from the expertise of DFS. We are happy to pass on our knowledge. If you are German-based institution, we would be happy to receive an invitation to give a talk at your upper secondary school or attend a career fair for school leavers. We organise face-to-face events in upper secondary schools from year 11 onwards. Simply get in touch with Mirco Krausch.
