Can you give us one general sentence
about working at DFS?

"The training at DFS was the best thing that could ever have happened to me."

Alina Wessely Junior expert for committee work

The career so far

"I realised during my work placement while at school that DFS was right for me.

After completing my school-leaving exams, I spent a year abroad. I then started a law degree, but realised pretty quickly that this path wasn't really for me. By chance, I found out about the office administrator apprenticeship while I was still studying and was then able to start my training here – fortunately."

The motivation

"I’ve always been interested in aviation and everything it involves.

During my work placement, I already realised that there’s a great atmosphere here. I got to know several people that told me about their work, which left an impression on me and made me curious about the work here. I enjoyed the training process, as I made some nice contacts and that's how it all got started."

The activities

"I deal with many different people from many different departments, which is very interesting."

In the Governance department and committee work in the Institutional and Legal Affairs division, I deal a lot with issues relating to the Supervisory Board and Executive Board. We’re in dialogue with people from a wide range of areas here, including the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport. So, I can say that I operate in a very varied field of work. And I obviously support the entire team, for example in planning Supervisory Board meetings, as well as other events or topics that arise. From scheduling appointments, through preparing documents, such as meeting minutes, all the way up to catering – it's all part of the job."

"I was one of the first apprentices to get a taste of the legal department, and was then taken on there. I'm really proud about that."

The challenges

“Sometimes, small organisational details can take up a great deal of time.

I like my job and organising things in the team. But if, for example, appointments have to be rescheduled and a lot of people are involved, that can sometimes be quite time-consuming and annoying. I'm currently studying online towards a business law degree alongside my work, in the evenings and at weekends. My hobby, show dancing, also demands a lot of time – but I dedicate as much as I can to this."
