What makes working at DFS
so special for you?

„Ich hatte die DFS eigentlich schon immer auf dem Radar.“

Karishma Herbert Business Trainee in the Management Job Group

The career so far

"Although I’ve also had exciting experiences outside the aviation industry, I was always drawn back to air transport.

After completing my bachelor’s degree in air traffic management at Cologne Bonn Airport, I worked there for 3 years in airport security and completed my master's degree in behavioural ethics, economics & psychology. I then worked at the academy of the German Economic Institute, where I was responsible for degree course management and further training courses, before joining DFS in 2023. I’m a business management trainee here, specialising in HR management and working on strategic HR issues."

The motivation

"DFS is THE company in the air transport sector. So, I knew that’s where I needed to be.

The industry itself is pretty cool and has always interested and inspired me. It was important for me to get to know as many areas of the company as possible and to build up a large network in the process. I consider that to be massively important. "

The activities

"I get so many insights into a very wide range of areas.

In fact, I can learn something new here almost every day. There are 4 trainee phases, two of which I completed in human resources. I mainly work strategically and conceptually on various projects. I'm looking forward to the other projects that await me in my trainee programme."

“Working at DFS is more than just a job. In fact, it’s a range of opportunities to do something really important, forward-looking and meaningful in appreciative teams."

The challenges

"Learning as much as possible in a short space of time. That's what I’m all about."

I don’t know what topics await me here. It's a personal challenge to familiarise myself with them as quickly as possible and not only to learn a lot in my work, but also to offer added value for the departments."

The corporate culture

"No matter which department I work in, I always get support. From my perspective, this is a feel-good job.

All the people here are passionate about their work and understand just how important it is. That not only makes the work meaningful, but also gives me a great deal of freedom. Although many generations come together here, some of which have different ways of working or thinking, the working relationships are always open and respectful. Everyone takes responsibility and everyone pulls in the same direction. You always work together here, not on your own.

Working at DFS is a bit like going on a big journey. I also enjoy travelling to other countries and cultures, and working at DFS is like a journey through many different topics and locations with very individual aspects. However, it ultimately all adds up to a varied experience."
